The Haringey friends of parks forum is organising a minibus tour of haringey parks and open spaces on May 22nd. It is a chance to visit the varied parks and open spaces of Haringey where friends groups operate and to see parks in parts of the borough that you may not have visited. It is hoped that members of the parks friends groups will be on hand to show off their park and answer questions and point out any unique features etc.
Speak out for our parks and green spaces!
The Heart of a neighbourhood.
Haringey has a variety of Parks and Green Spaces, from ornamental gardens to nature reserves, woodlands and sports pitches. Lordship Rec Shelter Tragedy
If you have read the story of the wartime Downhills Shelter Tragedy (see here) then this is to let you know that Alan and Ray Swain have recently added a number of new features on the Tottenham – Summerhill Road website. These including some fascinating stories from relatives of victims and survivors of the tragedy.
Lordship Rec – the full regeneration plans!
The Lordship Recreation Ground regeneration scheme has been submitted to Haringey Council’s planning department for approval. Getting such an approval is an essential precondition for receiving the funding needed from the Heritage Lottery Fund. All the planned works are included in the application except for the plans for the City Farm (which, due to the current funding shortfall, will be considered after the rest of the works are completed).
If you wish to look through all the key documents (and there are LOTS! – see * below), the application number is HGY/2010/0471, and you can click on the link below:

* Please note that if you visit the planning website the drawings are listed as Drawing_100310_1.pdf through to Drawing_100310_72.pdf without any description, so here’s a very helpful list of what they are: Continue reading “Lordship Rec – the full regeneration plans!”
