FINANCIAL APPEA££ FOR THE FRIENDS

PLEASE HELP THE FRIENDS OF LORDSHIP REC RAISE £1,000 to meet our ongoing core costs  so we can carry on doing our important work of maintaining and improving our wonderful Rec. : Pay here – https://pay.collctiv.com/test-for-donations-86608

The Friends are asking for your help as most of the external funding we obtain can only be spent on specific projects and cannot be used for core costs.  Our current reserves are not sufficient to cover our increased essential running costs this year.  In order to carry out all our organised volunteering and events we need to hold public liability insurance and do essential tool repair and replacement. Our insurance premium quote for 2026 has risen by 30% to £630.  This amount will wipe out our free reserves.  In 2025, lack of reserves has already meant we were unable to implement some actions we thought would benefit the Rec.  You can view our Accounts for the year ending 31st March 2025 at https://lordshiprec.org.uk/-accounts-24-25-flc/

The Friends work across the whole of the Rec,  being integral to its management and improvement and running its regular, community events.  We organise volunteers to maintain green areas  – Woodland, Orchard, Grasslands –  and blue areas  – the Lake and Moselle channel (the latter supporting Haringey Water Squad) – and continually liaise with Haringey Council, and other community groups, on issues of maintenance and new facilities.

Since our formation in 2001, the Friends have been fundamental to the transformation of Lordship Rec from the neglected and underused public park it was 25 years ago to the much loved, vibrant, well resourced space that it is today, at the heart of our community.

We pre-date Lordship Hub and are an autonomous voluntary, community organisation operating separately from, but in partnership, with them.   To appreciate the range of our activities you can view our latest Annual Report here: https://lordshiprec.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/FoLR-AGM-25A4-latest-2.pdf

We have set up a collection point with online app Collctiv to receive donations.  Donations can be given through the hyperlink

https://pay.collctiv.com/test-for-donations-86608

Donating through standing orders.  The Friends have never charged a membership fee as we want to inform and involve as many local people as possible.  However, could you regularly donate to the Friends through a standing order?  This would really help us with forward planning and set the Friends on a firmer financial footing.  If so, please contact Caroline Jepson, Treasurer, on cjepson120@gmail.com

Thank you so much for your support.

ANNUAL MEETING 2021

Sunday 7th March, 2pm (via zoom)

Hi, all Lordship Rec lovers.

As we all know it’s been a very challenging year for everyone, and we hope you are well and have been able to get on with things OK.

The Friends of the Rec have been busy throughout the last 12 months (see our fb page below), continuing our activities as best we can. This includes looking after parts of the park (e.g. woodland, orchard field and lake), doing some hands-on maintenance, helping with the Hub (currently takeaway only), reporting repairs needed and liaising regularly with park staff, and promoting the Rec and community action generally. A more detailed report will follow.

Our Annual Meeting will be a chance for all those who care about the Rec to attend to hear and share news and views, and look ahead to the next 12 months – including a discussion about ‘volunteering in the Rec’ and how people can get involved if they wish. We particularly welcome new faces!

So please put the date in your diary.

Best wishes
Caroline, Joan, Nina, Dave, Sally and Catherine

AGM

The next Friends of Lordship meeting will be our Annual General Meeting on Sunday Feb 6th 2pm in the hut by the playground. Due to the extensive restoration work on the rec starting in March 2011, this could be the last time we meet in the hut for some time. It is also the 10th Anniversary of the Friends of Lordship and marks a major turning point for the rec. So please try to come along to the meeting and help make it a good occasion for all of us. As well as all the business we hope to make it a celebration of all the hard work we have done over the past 10 years.

Congratulations to us all!

Bring some food or drink to share if you can.

Best wishes and see you there
