Invitation to all local community groups
Once again the Lordship Rec Users Forum is organising its annual community festival and we’re inviting you and your members to get involved! Last year 3,000 people attended and participated (see below for a report). The festival is a key part of the ongoing efforts to showcase the potential of the park, encourage greater usage, continue to develop community-led partnership working, and to pursue the regeneration of Tottenham’s largest green open space.
To get an idea of what can be achieved we can review what happened last year.
On September 13th 2008 around 3000 people attended the ‘Restore the Rec’ Community Festival. The festival was organised by the Lordship Rec Users Forum with the aim of showcasing the great potential of the Rec to coincide with the Lottery bid efforts.
Monday 20th July, 6.30pm
at the Broadwater Farm Community Centre, 1 Adams Rd, N17
Formal meeting for reps of user groups, local organisations and stakeholders concerned to successfully regenerate the park.
Haringey Council would like to invite you to a celebration of this year’s Green Flag Awards and launch of Parkforce – our innovative approach to park supervision.
The event will run from 1 – 3 pm (with speeches at 1.15) on Friday 24 July 2009 at Albert Road Recreation Ground, N22 in a marquee on the grass to the front of the Pavilion CafĂ©.
Albert Road Rec is situated between Bounds Green and Muswell Hill, close to Bounds Green Underground Station (Piccadilly Line) and on the 102, 184 and 299 bus routes that run past the park.
The event will provide an excellent opportunity for networking and information sharing. There will be representatives from Haringey Council, the Metropolitan Police, conservation charity BTCV and Haringey Friends of Parks Forum, as well as other partners and groups.
We would appreciate it if you could indicate whether you will be able to attend by replying to this email – so that we have an idea of numbers expected.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Saturday 11th July 2:00pm
The Friends are having another work-in in the Lordship Woodlands nr Downhills Pk Rd to cut back the rest of the dogwood and overgrown shrubbery… It’s so much fun this will be the third time in 3 months! If you’re up for it bring secateurs or shears.
So there you are – something for everyone: creative photography, cutting and slashing, or just come along for moral support (and see you in the hut afterwards for a cup of tea!).
We are holding a photography afternoon on Saturday July 11th in the rec to meet up and walk around taking photos of scenes in the rec that we think best express how we feel about the rec. Our favourite ones will go towards an exhibition called The Essence of the Rec to be held as part of the Lordship Rec festival on September 12th.
We will meet at 2pm at the gate to the rec nearest to the Broadwater Centre on Adams Road/Freedom Road and go off from there around the rec.
If you are feeling creative, then do come along.
