Xmas day by the lake

Some xmassy stuff…

2 or 3 of us are planning to meet up round the lake in Lordship Rec on xmas day at 2pm. If you feel like it we’ll see you there (weather permitting)!

Add your support for the plans for a small cafe in Downhills Park!

After 10 years of lobbying and discussions with the Council the Friends of Downhills Park have finally been successful in getting agreement for a small new cafe on the site of the old bowling club (demolished a couple of years back as unsafe). It will be smaller than the old clubhouse, but more compact and robust. The Friends will be helping to manage it and will be able to use it for park meetings.

Lordship Rec Users Forum – General Meeting

Tuesday December 15th, 6.30pm

At Broadwater Centre, 1 Adams Rd, N17 (by the BWF entrance to the park)

For reps of all organisations interested in the successful regeneration of the park.

Regular Lordship Rec community activities open to all

Note: most of the activities have a break over xmas and new year. For more info please check out the park’s noticeboards or www.lordshiprec.org.uk

  • Friends of Lordship Rec:
    First Sunday of each month, 2pm (next one Jan 10th): drop-in for all park users @ hut in the children’s playground.
    Third Sundays: work-ins in the park, 1pm (next one Dec 20th)
  • Lordship Walking Group: Mondays at 9.20am: Downhills Pk Rd entrance
  • Mother & Toddler Group: Tues & Thurs, 11am-2pm: @ hut, children’s playground. £1.50p per session.
  • Lordship Community Gardening Group: Fridays 10am: in the grounds of the Broadwater Centre
  • BWF Community Café: Fridays at 12.30-3pm: Broadwater Centre + Food Co-op, last Fri/Sat each month  [Up till 18th Dec]
  • Tai Chi in the park: Saturdays 10am-11am: £3 for an hour. Meet Broadwater Centre entrance, 9.55am
  • Lordship Rec Dog Club: First and third Sundays of each month, 3pm: in the South Field. [break over xmas and new year – back sometime in Feb 09]
  • The Trax, Lordship Rec bike users group: Most Saturdays: activities & rides: www.thetrax.co.uk

Three Parks Cycle Ride

Sun 13th Dec from 12 noon – Short 3 Parks Cycle Escorted Cycle Ride for Local Families & children

To Everyone living in the vicinity of Chestnuts Park/Downhills park/Lordhip Rec ..and beyond !!

A bit late notice but just thought I’d let you know that ‘Pedal Power London’ with support from the LCC Community Cycling Fund and Seven Sisters NDC is running a short cycle ride this coming Sunday 13th December.

Lordship Rec Dog Club update

1.  The fortnightly dog training sessions have closed for a couple of months – they will restart in February 2010. This is due to the winter conditions.

2.  The Wood Green Animal Shelter have been talking with people, mainly younger people, who have ‘status dogs’ about organising additional special training sessions for them. This might start in the new year, with the backing of the Dog Club.

Woodland Workday

Don’t forget that our next Lordship woodland workday (3rd Sunday of each month) is on Sunday 20th December, 1pm – 2pm in the woodland by the Downhills Park Rd entrance. All welcome to drop by.
