TCV, The Conservation Volunteers, are supporting the Friends to do some conservation work in and around the Lake in Lordship Rec. One of the tasks will be to repair the wooden dipping platform and make it safe.
Clearing and Cleaning the Moselle
Contractors will be on site on Tuesday 24th November to carry out vegetation clearance in the Moselle River channel and to clear the trash screen at the Broadwater Farm end and to do the winter siltex application (this is to break down the silt). This work will help the river flow better and wash through some of the unsightly surface. The team should be on site for 2 days arriving mid-morning tomorrow.
This is part of an ongoing yearly maintenance plan that should gradually improve the water quality and enjoyment of the river. Continue reading “Clearing and Cleaning the Moselle”

Tottenham ‘Mini’ Flower and Produce-Entry Form
We will be holding a Tottenham ‘Mini’ Flower and Produce Show outside the Hub on Saturday October 3rd, 1-5pm.
This year we want to showcase what people have learned over ‘lockdown’, exhibiting Fruit and Veg Growing, Crafts, Visual Art and Poetry, Carpentry, playing a musical instrument and any other skills you have picked up and wish to share.

Mal Hawley 1942-2020
We are sad to report the passing away of Mal Hawley, the former Secretary of the Friends of Downhills and an active participant in many Friends of Lordship Rec activities and meetings in the last 10 years. In his life he had travelled widely, was an experienced carpenter, played double bass for jazz bands, made unorthodox musical instruments and was very keen on wildlife (including organising annual bird and butterfly counts in Lordship Rec and Downhills Park). Mal was kind, thoughtful and committed to a better society, with a lifelong love of music and people. Full tribute here: Mal Hawley Tribute & Celebration of His Life
