Friends of Lordship Rec Meeting for all Park Users to share news & views about the Park

Wednesday 19th April

FoLR Lake Group Meeting – to discuss ongoing Lake project and plan improvements. We have planted lots of new plants which are under netting to stop the birds from eating it before it has a chance to mature. We will hopefully be launching new floating islands on Monday 17th April from 10am.

Practical tree care; planting, protecting, mulching young and newly planted native species trees in Lordship Rec to enhance bio-diversity, and much more! Certificates will be awarded to attendees.

Tutor: Russell Miller, Arboriculturalist, environmental expert and lead member of Hackney Tree Musketeers.

Types and varieties of trees, soils, practical work in Lordship Rec, Orchard planting, pruning, mulching, protecting newly planted trees – and much more! Certificates will be awarded to attendees.

Tutor: Marina O’Connell, an organic fruit farmer and permaculture teacher, from The Apricot Centre, Manningtree in Essex.

 

All workshops will take place in Lordship Recreation Ground, Higham Road, N17 6NU

From 10am to 4pm; meet in the Hub Café

Children are welcome with accompanying parents. No experience needed. FREE hot drinks! Bring lunch to share, or buy from The Hub cafe.

Please come prepared for the weather! Much of the workshop will take place outdoors. Come in suitable warm weatherproof clothing and footwear (it can be muddy and wet).

Cost: between ÂŁ1 and ÂŁ10 for each day workshop, pay what you can afford.

Book a place via Brown Paper Tickets or call in to the Hub office in Lordship Recreation Ground from Monday to Thursday between 9 and 3.

Tuesday 20th September

There will be a workday with TCV (The Conservation Volunteers) and the Friends in the wood in Lordship Rec. We will as ever be dealing with dogwood but also beginning to replace boards along the side path and digging/clearing the mini-stream and pool. All welcome

We meet at the Downhills Park Gate entrance at 10am. Tools, tea and biscuits provided. Bring a packed lunch and wear suitable footwear.

Free Composting Workshop

Saturday 23 July, 11AM to 2PM

The Hub, Lordship Rec N17 6NU

Learn how to make your own compost from kitchen, garden and other household waste.

Includes info on where to buy a composter or how to make your own, what materials can be composted, and how to build and maintain your compost heap.

We will be building a compost heap using waste from Lordship Rec, but please bring any suitable materials you can spare.
