Wassail at the Lordship Rec Orchard

Sunday 14 January, 3.30 – 5pm. Meet at the Hub (back room) 3.15pm

A Wassail (‘Waes-Hael’, ‘good health’) is a joyful occasion to wish the fruit trees in the Orchard ‘good health’ and hoping for a bountiful harvest in the coming year. It is an old English tradition (usually taking place in orchards in the Winter in the countryside, not often seen in London!) It involves cider, (and we are also supplying a non-alcoholic drink, hot sorrel, a traditional Caribbean Christmas drink), singing and ceremony (in the Orchard). No experience is needed.

Suitable for all ages, children especially welcome. We hope to have an enthusiastic small group of members from Tottenham Community Choir to lead the singing, together with children and parents from Hackney School of Folk to both play their instruments and sing.

Come to join the Wassail.
